More Ice

Ok so I'm a crazy about the ice, but I love it. Pictures just don't do it justice. These are taken 1/30/09 in the late afternoon. I tried to capture the sun hitting the ice, but like I said pictures just don't do it justice.

1/29 I was a little worried about letting the kids go out and play because of all the branches falling, but I gave in and luckily they were all safe and had a great time out in the winter wonderland.

I made Karl take a break from studying and go move my car because I was watching the tree limb just above it heavily sway. I was worried it would break and fall on my car. It never broke, but while he was out there two other big branches on that tree broke. That is what he is pointing to in the second picture.

Some pictures of the ice on the trees. I am fascinated by it all. It's beautiful. We ran some errands last night and I was just in awe looking at ice everywhere.

Out our dining room window. We had a big limb fall onto our deck. Luckily that was the worst that happened at our house. Many people lost power. I think the main reason we did not is because the power company came last week and trimmed all the trees from the power lines. Lucky us.

This is the same tree as the one in the first two pictures of my last post. The one with the kids is in the morning. The top one is late afternoon and this is the next morning.

ICE

We woke up to everything iced over. This is taken in the afternoon and it has only gotten thicker since then. It's kind of cool-as long as it doesn't break my powerline in the backyard. The kids loved it!
And since Karl threw away the boogie board that they have been sledding on since we moved from Hawaii, which by the way make GREAT sleds, they got creative.
Haylee on her shovel...

Lydea in the laundry basket...Sorry I'm dumb and turned the camera sideways.

Carson on his shovel...
Eldon was justsliding with his snow pants which was working great, but didn't work so well the time I video'd him. I was cold though and wanted to go inside.

Rebecca was out earlier, but couldn't get up the hill because it was so slick and Zach begged me all afternoon to go out, but I was afraid he'd hurt himself because it was so slick.

Martin Luther King Jr Day at the Explorium

I think I'm all caught up on my blogging now!!!

We had a lot of fun on our little holiday! The kids woke up to enough snow to play in finally. Well kind of. They have been dying looking at friends pictures ofall the snow this year. Although I must say, I'm glad not to have it all. Then we had a great time at the explorium in downtown Lexington.

I think the pictures tell all. Sorry I post lots of pics.

Poor baby lost a mitten and a boot and nobody will even help him.

Lydea's snowman. It's in my freezer now-go figure.
Rebecca thinks it is summer in her sun dress.

The Explorium...so much to do.

Had to take a picture with the big mouth since Karl is studying to be a dentist.

Zach was so mad that he couldn't get the balloon.

Homes around the world.

Lydea's Haircut

I love Lydea's hair cut short like this. I finally talked her into it again the other day, so we chopped it. It's not perfect, but once we clip it back you can see my mistakes.

Rebecca's funny quote

God is nice to us because he gives us eyeses, and mouthes and teeth, and noses, and hair.

This was just out of the blue-very funny.
